I love this cover and wonder if this was the shoot Chanel Iman twittered about awhile back. They look like Robert Palmer girls sans instruments.

What struck me about the image at first was that their skin wasn't bleached out with lighting effects. I think the bright makeup and background color are all the contrast that was needed.

What say you?

Trace #85 Black Girls Rule! - Arlenis Sosa Peña

The annual BGR! issue is here and will be available at select newsstand and online (begining in July) at Trace Online. I can never find this locally anymore and I gave up subscribing because too many of the issue never made to it to my mailbox. I am glad to see that they're still putting it out however. It seems that there are always rumors that Trace is on the verge of folding.

She may not have landed on the cover of American Vogue's "model" issue but Arlenis looks does one better by landing a solo cover of the German edition.

I think she looks fantastic in Lanvin with bouffant hair. She is also featured inside in a spread called "Magic Black"also photographed by Alexi Lubomirski. Can't wait to see the rest of it!

What can I say, except that she looks gorgeous and I can't wait to see the rest of the campaign. Anyone ever use Lancome products? I seem to remember trying one of their Color ID foundations a few years back but not being impressed enough to buy it.

Vogue Praises Arlenis' Curves

At de la Renta’s collection…she scored top honors: opening and closing the show in a color-block maillot and a strapless silver evening dress...both of which showed off her jaw-dropping curves (yes, curves!) to spectacular effect.

Arlenis Sosa. Lovely girl. Slim but relatively healthy looking figure. I don't know anyone who would accuse the girl of being full-figured but I had to look again after reading this piece in Vogue Magazine.   Everyone knows that the fashion industry is a tad masochistic when it comes to women's bodies so I wonder if their praise of her "breathtaking" curves is really a backhanded compliment. We've already read fashion insider's complaints about black model's bodies so this comment just ads fuel to the fire. To me, Vogue is saying "Arlenis may hot be right now but lets be clear, she's not like our "regular" models!" I just hope that Arlenis (who appears to be very careful with what she eats) doesn't read this the same way and try to get that "unhealthy but employed" look.

Arlenis for Lancome?

According to the rumor mill @ Fashionista, Arlenis Sosa Peña will be the new face at Lancome. The beautiful 19 year old Dominican is fresh off the heels of her appearances this month in both Italian and American Vogue and was said to have garnered a lot of attention at this year's Costume Gala at the Met. If the rumor is true, I hope she has a lot of success with the brand and I really look forward to seeing those ads. I can't believe that she's been modeling for such a short period of time.
